Our team is concerned with the identification and characterization of allergic sensitization to chemicals and biological allergens. The focus has been on the analysis of the innate and adaptive response in humans. Furthermore we develop in vitro models to study their mode of action and for prediction of sensitization potential without animal experiments.

In this new project we will investigate the role of cross-talk between skin keratinocytes and antigen-presenting cells on the activation of the latter. This three-year project is concentrating on lipophilic molecules. This project is embedded in series of other projects with partners in industry and academic institutions (in USA, Netherlands, and Luxembourg).
