    The department Drug Delivery, led by Prof. Dr. Claus-Michael Lehr, at the Helmholtz-Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS) in Saarbrücken, is seeking a

    Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) in the field of “Organotypic Disease Models”

    The Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS) researches new active ingredients against infectious diseases. It was founded in August 2009 as a branch of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig together with Saarland University. A new research building was moved into on the campus of Saarland University in 2015. Currently, 120 employees of international origin work at the institute. The HIPS is the first publicly funded non-university research institution in Germany explicitly dedicated to pharmaceutical research. The institute cooperates with international and national research institutions and industrial companies.

    We are looking for a person eager to embark on a scientific carrier in fundamental, but problem-oriented and multidisciplinary research, which is typical for the field of drug delivery. The ideal candidate has studied biology or similar field and holds a PhD in Infection Biology and/or Molecular Cell Biology with particular experience in e.g. bacterial biofilms, stem cells, organoids, 3D-bioprinting and/or microfluidics as needed to build up complex in-vitro models of biological barriers to facilitate the translation of novel anti-infectives into the clinic.

    We expect new team members to bring in their own expertise and ideas, but also being eager to learn complementary methods. They are ready to engage in running projects, but also to start new ones, including the acquisition of extramural funding. We consider a significant publication record, the motivation for independent research, but also for teamwork as key qualifications.

    Requirements:

    * Study of Biology or a related Life Science
    * PhD in Infection Biology and/or Molecular Cell Biology
    * Particular experience in e.g. bacterial biofilms, stem cells, organoids, 3D-bioprinting and/or microfluidics as needed to build up complex in vitro models of biological barriers to facilitate the translation of novel anti-infectives into the clinic.
    * Significant publications, most desirably in the field of infection research
    * English language skills and proficiency „business fluent“
