Good teaching is based on good teaching materials - creating them is time-consuming and costly. Since the same learning contents are often taught at different universities, it is a good idea to bundle teaching materials and make them available to other teachers. This is possible through the Open Educational Resources (OER). OER consists of free digital teaching and learning materials with an open license, which can be used and adapted by other teachers. At the TiHo now exactly such teaching contents are provided to the topic animal protection and animal experiment alternatives. Professor Dr. Bernhard Hiebl from the institute for animal hygienics, animal protection and livestock ethology of the TiHo and Dr. Marcel Mertz from the institute for history, ethics and philosophy of medicine of the MHH head the project "Alternatives to animal experiment: bases, examples and ethical consideration".

"The materials produced in the project are primarily intended for teachers of human medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry and the natural sciences, as well as philosophy and ethics," said Prof. Hiebl in a press release issued today.

This project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony (MWK) with almost 180,000 euros.
