Liver surgery: consultation in silico Featured

Physicists and scientists from six research institutions in Jena, Berlin, Stuttgart, Bremen as well as Leipzig want to develop a digital model that can mimic the blood flow and function of the healthy and diseased liver in high spatial resolution.


The model is to be used in the planning of major operations to prognosis remaining liver function and the course of regeneration.

In the long term, the systems medicine approach for liver surgery is intended to help the treating physician and the patient to obtain comprehensive information for a well-founded therapy decision.
