MEPs call for comprehensive plan to end animal testing in Europe Featured

On July 8, EU Commissioner Adina Ioana Vălean explained to the European Parliament how the Commission plans to fulfill its commitment to proactively reduce and replace animal testing in EU laboratories.

Members of the European Parliament call for a coordinated action plan to move Europe towards a more humane and humane science without the use of animals in research, regulatory testing, and education. Across political groups, MEPs have joined forces to call on the Commission to set up a high-level taskforce
to work with the Member States and relevant stakeholders to develop an EU-wide plan to phase out the use of animals in Europe's laboratories.

An important goal of the Animals in Science Working Group of the Intergroup on the Welfare and Conservation of Animals was achieved: an oral question to the Commission on this topic was discussed at this meeting, the Parliament will also formally take its position in September.
