USA: Louisiana bans the marketing of cosmetics tested on animals Featured

As the ninth State of the United States, Louisiana prohibits the marketing of cosmetics tested on animals. Previously, California, Nevada, Illinois, Virginia, Maryland, Maine, Hawaii, and New Jersey, have been convinced of new animal-free practices.

However, animal rights organizations are working toward a comprehensive national solution, which would also meet a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) work plan to use New Approach Methods (NAMs). Here, however, the issue is the use of animal testing for risk assessment of chemicals while maintaining the protection of humans and the environment.

Even though the Personal Care Products Council of 600 companies that manufacture or market cosmetics as well as 275 individual companies have come out in favor of the so-called Humane Cosmetics Act, which would standardize the requirements, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, however, did not go along with a recent bill.
