Pharmaceutical industry: AI instead of animal testing could reduce manufacturing costs by half in the next few years Featured

According to the Reuters news agency, pharmaceutical companies are increasingly relying on artificial intelligence (AI) when developing and testing the safety of drugs to achieve faster and more cost-effective results.

Experts from contract research organizations, biotechnology companies and investment banks report that the use of AI and the reduction of animal testing could at least halve development times and costs within the next three to five years.

For example, Charles River, the world's largest contract research organization, is already generating annual sales of around 200 million US dollars with animal-free methods.

However, industry experts believe that in the near future, companies will pursue a hybrid approach with fewer animal experiments and additional data from the new methods.
