Alzheimer's: no cure in sight Featured

An online survey conducted by the non-profit Alzheimer's Research Initiative (AFI) questioning 203 Alzheimer's researchers from seven European countries found that a cure for Alzheimer´s disease is not expected in the foreseeable future.

According to a press release by the AFI, despite the fact that intensive research especially during the past 20 years has greatly expanded knowledge about the disease, existing drugs cannot permanently halt its progression.

43 per cent of the interviewees from public institutions and universities think it a cure might be possible within a decade, whilst 46 per cent did not offer a prognosis.
