Rhineland-Palatinate: Animal welfare research prize announced Featured

This year, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate is again awarding a research prize for the promotion of alternatives to animal experiments.

At least one of the following three requirements must be fulfilled:
- animal experiments are replaced by the application of the method ("replacement");
- the number of laboratory animals is reduced ("Reduction");
- the suffering and pain of test animals are reduced ("Refinement").

This also includes projects that take up existing approaches and develop them in such a way that they can be widely applied in practice (prevalidation or validation).

Research institutions based in Rhineland-Palatinate,
companies or scientifically active persons with their projects can apply directly.

Applications from other federal states are also possible. Proposals can be submitted by the State Investigation Office of Rhineland-Palatinate as well as animal protection organizations.

The deadline for applications is June 30, 2021.
