    Prof. Bettina Seeger, Ph.D., from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Institute for Food Quality and Food Safety, Research Group Food Toxicology and lternatives/Complementary Methods to Animal Experiments, is looking for a PhD student to work on a thesis-project on the development of a human stem cell-based in vitro assay on myelin toxicity influencing peripheral sensory and motor functions related to the Horizon Europe PARC “Partnership for Assessment of Risks from Chemicals”.

    At the , we are seeking to recruit a Ph.D. student to work on a thesis related to the Horizon Europe project “Partnership for Assessment of Risks from Chemicals” (www.eu-parc.eu). The project will be on the development of a human stem cell-based in vitro assay on myelin toxicity influencing peripheral sensory and motor functions. The position offers a stipend at €1400 per month, for up to 36 months.

     

     

  • Qualifikationen:

     

    To be eligible for this position, you should have a scientific university degree in veterinary medicine or a related field such as toxicology, biology, biochemistry, human medicine, biomedicine, molecular biology, or a comparable discipline. Experience in cell culture practices, preferably with iPSCs and differentiation protocols for neuronal cells, as well as proficiency in molecular biology and biochemical methods such as qPCR, immunofluorescence cytochemistry, confocal imaging, and Western Blot, would be advantageous.

    If you have a keen interest in addressing biological questions and the motivation to develop new methodologies to complement other in vitro assays for neurotoxicity, with the goal of establishing a network of highly predictive, human cell-based in vitro assays that reduce the use of animals in risk assessment, then you are the ideal candidate for this position.
