New online tool to improve environmental risk assessment of chemicals Featured

In an international project, scientists from the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission have collaborated on a high-quality ecotoxicological database called EnviroTox, which aims to improve the environmental risk assessment of chemicals.

With the new methodology, chemicals that may pose a risk to the aquatic environment can be identified. The new method aims to close existing data gaps by grouping chemicals and investigating potential toxicological effects in the entire group of chemicals.

Environmental risk assessment of chemicals typically requires toxicity data for fish, algae, and crustaceans.
