The congress participants will meet on the Medical Faculty campus of the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz, Austria. The congress always takes place annually, with the exception of years in which a World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences is organized.

This year's topics in the categories of replacement, reduction and refinement of animal experiments are once again broadly diversified and range, e.g., from in vitro disease models and microphysiological systems, current research results on human stem cells, bioprinting, multi-organ systems, in silico models or the implementation of newly developed animal-free procedures to cultures of care in animal use or the discussion of pre-registration of animal experimentation projects in order to avoid duplication.

A special topic is the current state of science in artificial intelligence and its application to replace or reduce animal testing.
